AISI H13

This is a chromium hot work tool steel, which is widely used in tooling applications as it is characterised by high level of toughness and ductility. Uniform and high levels of machinability and polishability make H13 a viable choice, especially for the aluminium and die casting and plastic mould industry where this is required. Excellent through hardness properties and limited distortion during hardening allow the end product to have a better quality giving a longer die life. Molybdenum & Vanadium act as strengthening agents and Chromium provides high temperature strength, high temperature toughness and high temperature wear resistance.

In 2013 MUSCO worked hand in hand relentlessly for 2 years to develop a very special product. AISI H13 – EFS. This resulted in giving our existing customers a higher die life , equal or better than that of imported steels from reputed mills in Europe.

Applications

  • -         Aluminium extrusion dies, backers, liners
  • -          Hot shear blades
  • -          Stamping dies
  • -          Die casting dies
  • -          Dummy blocks
  • -          Mandrels
  • -          Swaging dies
  • -          Forging dies

AISI H11

Similar to H-13, is a 5% Chromium - Molybdenum and slightly lower Vanadium hot work tool steel that is represented by its excellent impact toughness and marginally reduced wear resistance.

H11 tool steel is a deep hardening, air hardening steel. The resistance to thermal fatigue is what makes this MUSCO steel Important for the die industry.

Applications

  • - Ejector pins
  • - Tool holders
  • - Shrink fit chucks
  • - Hot punches
  • - Die casting dies
  • - Hot shear blades
  • - Hot gripper dies
  • - Extrusion tooling & dies
  • - Die casting moulds
  • - Die casting mould parts

EN 36C

EN36C is a 3.50 % Nickel steel with Chromium & Molybdenum. It is a carburizing steel grade with very high surface strength with a soft but strong core. The material retains an incredible degree of toughness and fatigue resistance.

Case hardened steel is usually formed by diffusing carbon and/or nitrogen into the outer layer of the steel at high temperature. The carbon combines with the steel to make it nearly glass-like in its hardness. The core of the metal stays soft. This gives you a piece of metal that you cannot cut with a saw, but also will not shatter.

Applications

- DTH Hammers

- DTH Bits

- Pistons

- Gears

- Shafts

- Connecting rods

- Couplings
